Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy! Welcome at our midwifery practice.
While a very exciting time, we can imagine that being pregnant in a country where you do not know how to navigate the care system or speak the language can be pretty daunting! Our aim is to put you at ease. We have provided a brief outline of how we work, how the Dutch maternity system works and what you can expect during your pregnancy, birth and thereafter.
You are very welcome to join us at our midwifery practice for a consultation, where we can meet and discuss your expectations for the birth of your child. We serve Breda and the surrounding area (e.g. Oosterhout, Teteringen, Etten-Leur, Rijsbergen, Dorst, Terheijden, Zundert, Prinsenbeek). If you live elsewhere, please contact us to discuss further.
How we work
We are qualified midwives, or in Dutch ‘verloskundigen’. Together we form the Nintu Midwifery Practice. We believe in women-centred care where we support your needs and wishes. We will discuss the options that are available to you and inform you of any risks and benefits based on evidence and guidelines. In this way you can make the right choices for you and your baby.
We take on a small caseload so that we can give extra time during our appointments for you to ask any questions and/or voice any concerns you might have, to truly get to know you and your family and to build a trusting relationship. We offer true continuity of care during your pregnancy, birth and during the postnatal period, which research has shown to be hugely beneficial for both mothers and babies. Known benefits are better outcomes, less medical interventions, less chance of preterm birth, shorter labour and overall increased satisfaction, just to name a few.
Furthermore, we also offer:
